About ECDO
Our story, our mission, and our unwavering commitment to Ethiopian communities.
Our Journey to Foster Equity and Justice
While Equitable Community Development Organization (ECDO) was legally established in 2024, our roots in community service run deep. Since 2021/22, we have been actively collaborating with government stakeholders in the North Shewa Zone of the Amhara Regional State. Our early work focused on empowering youth and women through life skills development, entrepreneurship training, and crucial psychosocial support.
We played a vital role in providing humanitarian aid to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Debre Berhan City, mobilizing resources to distribute essential food and sanitary supplies.
Our Mission
To empower and support children, youth, women, and underserved communities in Ethiopia through equitable and inclusive programs that promote empowerment, advocate for quality education and accessible healthcare, foster peace, defend human rights, build sustainable livelihoods, and provide responsive humanitarian support.
Our Core Values
Leadership Committed to Our Vision
Our Governance
ECDO is governed by an independent Board of Directors (BoD), which is the key policy-making body of the organization. The Board formulates policies, approves systems, and evaluates our overall performance, ensuring we remain accountable to our mission and the communities we serve.
Our Team
ECDO is powered by a team of thirteen dynamic and highly motivated volunteer staff, including technical specialists. Over 50% of our team are women, bringing diverse academic and professional backgrounds to our shared mission of promoting equitable and inclusive development throughout the country.
